Zeus and Athena are both rescued American Akitas. They're also known as Fathead and Sassypants. They have quite a following so I created their own Facebook Page and Instagram hashtag (#AdventuresOfFatheadAndSassypants).
My first dog was a rescued 6 year old Akita named Liberty (Libby). Our time together was not long but it was a journey that led me to love the breed. After Libby crossed the rainbow bridge, I adopted Athena. Athena and I had our moments as she was only about a year old when I adopted her and I was not used to having a puppy in the house. A few years went by and I had been debating to get Athena a brother. Then a friend had messaged me about a man looking to re-home his young male Akita. I went and met "Charlie" and after seeing where he was being kept and seeing his poor coat condition, I picked him up the next day. My plan was to foster him while I contacted local Akita rescues. Him and Athena instantly hit it off and he quickly joined our little family. Even though I kept Libby's and Athena's rescue names, "Charlie" didn't seem fitting (especially since he didn't know that was his name), so he became "Zeus".
Athena has always been a bit sassy (in true Akita fashion) and I had always joked she's a "Ms. Sassypants". Zeus is a BIG boy (130 lbs and growing!) with a large head and is overall quite dopey, so "Fathead" caught on quickly. #AdventuresOfFatheadAndSassypants
